Suzan Drummen

"The installations for example, are made from crystal, chrome-plated metal, precious stones, mirrors and optical glass. From a distance they appear clear and orderly, yet upon closer inspection, the eyes become disoriented by the many details and visual stimuli. That moment, of being able to take it all in or not, is explored, time and time again. The visual perception is challenged, requisitioned and intensified."

Ethiopian Religious Art

This is a religious book and is so beautifully illustrated.  It's from the Abune Michael Kebe church (known as The Blue Church) in Northern Ethiopia.

Hot glue gun

This rough 'shape' was made from a hot glue gun.  I drew the shape with the hot glue on to a plastic sheet, let it 'set' and peeled it off very carefully. I then placed it on a sheet of drawing paper and spray-painted over it.
I thought the effect was quite interesting, and for abstract rather than detailed shapes, this is worth a try.  I wasn't that impressed with the actual gun that I'd bought but maybe a better quality one would be easier to use.

Richard Tuttle

This textile installation is in the Turbine Hall at the Tate Modern (London, UK).  The colours in the photos are really saturated, but the actual piece is not quite as bright. Specially without the sunshine!  The fabrics were made and dyed in India - where the colours must look wonderful. There is an exhibition of his other varied works at The Whitechapel Gallery.

I'm afraid I wasn't so fond of a lot of the 'assemblages' but loved the more painterly pieces.
